Sailing is often seen as a macho sport, and we have heard far too many stories of skippers becoming impatient with, and even shouting at students or berating them. Other teachers sometimes resent what they consider “too many questions.”
When it comes to learning to sail there are never too many questions!
We believe that student-directed sailing lessons are the most effective. You know what your goals are - what you want to learn and why - our job is to give you what you need. On our cruise and learn sailing school, the students call the shots. We encourage, work slowly and understand that learning to sail can be a real challenge for many of our students.
Whether it’s a short 3-hour sailing lesson or a 2-week Desolation Sound sailing cruise, we will ensure you get what you need. In fact, we guarantee it. If there is a sailing technique or procedure that you aren’t yet quite sure of, we will continue to work with you until you feel comfortable with what you have accomplished. We are driven by a deep love of sailing and will do everything we can to see you succeed.
While you learn to sail, you will experience our lovely coastline with it’s kelp beds, islets, beaches and teeming wildlife. It all looks so very different from on the water and you become part of the marine world instead of a distant spectator. Don’t put it off – the sea is calling.
